Who Is Karen Karjala?

Professionally: I've been licensed in real estate since 1975. That's a lot of real estate experience.  I've worked in up markets and down markets and everything in between. There have been high interest rates (17%) and low interest rates (5%). I've helped people sell homes, buy homes, rent homes, invest in homes, relocate, mover uppers and empty nesters. There's not much in residential real estate that I haven't done. That either makes me "crazy" about the business or "crazy" from the business. But I'm still at it and I still get excited when the house sells or when I know we've found that perfect home.

Personal: I grew up in the mountains of western Pennsylvania. In a little town called Clearfield, not far from Penn State. A beautiful part of the country, but not many opportunities. So after Penn State, I headed for Washington, DC and spent most of my adult life in Northern Virginia. I had a career in the travel business with TWA and Pan Am, then got married, had 2 kids, and became a real estate agent. The rest is history as they say. My husband and I moved to St Augustine in 2003 and love it. He's still consulting in the defense industry and I'm helping people find their Florida dream home. I love the beach, boating, Trivia at Panama Hattie's, tennis, and traveling. And I almost forgot, helping people buy and sell beautiful homes in St Augustine.
